Elemental Movement is a guided dance and moving-meditation experience exploring the wisdom of nature through the body. Through music, visualization, somatic exercises, and creative movement, we will embody Earth, Water, Fire and Air, using the elements as mirrors for our physical, mental and emotional experiences.
This session centres on Air, the element of freedom, expansion and transition.
As summer gives way to autumn, Air invites us to gather what has been awakened, discovered and brought to life during the fiery season of summer, and allow it to move, transform, and settle into a new form. It teaches us about release, impermanence and the freedom that becomes possible when we loosen our grip on what is ending.
What to Expect
We’ll begin with an opening circle and an introduction to the qualities of Air, exploring how it appears in nature and how it may be experienced within the body, mind and energy.
You’ll then be guided through:
An expansive meditation focused on freedom, possibility and untethered expression
Somatic movement that explores that spaciousness
A fabric exercise that makes the invisible movement of air visible
Grounding practices inspired by Earth to help integrate what you discover
A freestyle dance journey for personal exploration and release
A closing meditation and reflection circle
The experience moves between subtle observation and expressive dance. There are no steps to memorize and no right or wrong way to move. You are invited to listen to the music, notice what arises and allow your body to respond honestly.
Why Work With the Elements?
The elements are the building blocks of the natural world and the physical body. By exploring their different rhythms and qualities through movement, we can gain greater insight into the cycles occurring within and around us.
Working with Air may help us notice where we feel expansive or restricted, inspired or scattered, open to change or resistant to it. The intention is not to force a particular outcome, but to create space for movement, awareness and release.
Consistent time and effort with this practice will support:
Greater connection with yourself and others
Increased presence and body awareness
Emotional expression and release
Creative freedom and imagination
A more grounded relationship with transition and change
No dance or meditation experience is required. Come wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
